Double Opt In it’s a subscription process that requires recipients to confirm their email address before adding them to the list.

How does DOI work on the platform?
You have the option to enable or disable DOI system for your account. When enabled the system behaves like this:
For new email recipients:
When new recipients enter the system (through events, user import or API):
- when DOI is enabled it will set subscription attributes to false and trigger a subscribe event.
- when DOI is not enabled it will only set default or received attributes to the recipient
For existing recipients:
If you try to subscribe an existing user, either through events or user import:
- when DOI is enabled it will set subscription attributes to false and trigger a subscribe event.
- when DOI is not enabled it will just update attributes accordingly
The subscribe event will trigger the Confirm Email Subscription campaign to be sent, when campaign is started.
In any of those cases we will check:
- if the recipient is in our internal blacklist we won’t allow subscriptions and we won’t trigger subscribe event
- if the recipient previously hard-bounced or marked your email as spam we won’t allow subscribing user either.
